Wash received a grateful look. Jo just... wasn't very good with this sort of thing. She wished that she was because she thought that Maxine deserved a hell of lot better explanation than Jo could have given, but unfortunately the two of them were all the young girl had right now.
Jo turned her attention back to Maxine and nodded.
"Exactly like a babysitter."
She looked back at Wash, curious if he would offer to take Maxine in. And wondering if she should let him if he did. He seemed to be good with the young girl, but could she trust him? Her gut was telling her that this was a decent guy, but was it fair to go on gut feelings when a child was at stake?
