The guy was from outer space-really out there, but he was good with kids. Or seemed to be. Jo could give him that much. She was glad that Wash was there for that fact, though she still wasn't sure what they were going to do with this little girl that was here all alone.
Was there some sort of social services in the City? If so, could they even trust them to take care of kids? Jo didn't trust most things provided by the City and handing a kid over seemed a little risky.
Then again, it wasn't like Jo could imagine actually bringing a child-an actual, little person-home and watching out for her. Didn't you need some sort of license to do that sort of thing? A person certainly needed to be more qualified than Jo.
She half-shook her head at Wash's question, not sure where to even start answering that question. How did someone who spoke English not know about Canada? Not knowing San Diego was strange enough, but a whole country? It made no sense.
She turned her attention back to Maxine.
"Like Wash said, we look and then we eat. We'll do our best for you."
