Christine frowned at what the woman had said. It didn’t make sense. How on earth could it get her killed? But she did not ask. She simply thought it through and considered questioning Erik about it. Perhaps he would know what she meant if she told him. But she knew already that she would not hear much else. Potentially would not even have an explanation.
As much as Christine felt worried by what the woman said, she did need her help. Even if it isn’t a matter of life and death, it would be nice to get the help. And the men hired to look after her rarely actually spoke to her unless she kept pushing for conversation. A godsend at times.
“Excuse me,” she said softly, a shy look on her face. “Forgive me I just wondered if perhaps you could recommend somewhere to eat? Only I do not believe I have been to this part of the city before.”
