“Then I am grateful that you do not seem to be that type of person.” The smile on the other woman’s face settled Christine a little. She seemed genuine. Perhaps Christine’s paranoia made things more difficult when it came to trusting others. Especially now that Erik wanted her protected at all times. Christine tried to forget it though it really was difficult with the men following her at all times. Knowing that, apparently, there is some sort of threat out there did not help to calm Christine’s heart.
“Oh...” she replied quietly and glanced over her shoulder again. They were watching keenly, both ready and willing to jump in at the sign of any sort of trouble. They were being paid to look after her after all. Not that Christine knew just how much they had been given each to follow her everywhere. Looking back to her company, she gave a shy smile. “My...My manager insisted. He will not go into detail why.”
How she wished she could say husband but she could not. Not until Erik deemed it an appropriate time. Whenever that would be. She could not push, Christine knew that much. He would not let her push him. So she had to be completely patient.
