The boyish grin and chuckle were noted with a little hint of amusement on her part. She had learned that sometimes it was better not to ask.
Dinah reached over and pressed the compass on the ring. The points started spinning around until the point labelled with an N was pointing in her direction. If the rings worked as they had when she'd tested them out with Annie, his should be warming up awfully quickly. It wasn't hot enough to burn, but the temperature change was dramatic enough to get attention.
"They're our safety net," she explained. "You press like that to turn yours on and it can find mine. The compass will point to wherever I am and the ring will get warmer as you get closer."
Dinah chewed her lip, just now thinking about the fact that this gift might seem a little weird, especially if it weren't for the danger involved in the things they did. She didn't have any need to stalk him or try to seek him out for any reason other than being concerned about a hunt gone wrong, though she could see where it might seem like she was just trying to lojack her boyfriend. She didn't think that Dean had anything to hide and she trusted him enough that she wouldn't abuse the ability to track him down, but it could seem odd.
"We don't have to keep them if you don't want to, but I thought it might be good to have something like this in case one of us goes missing again."
