Lindsey knew a thing or two about what people's faces did when they lied. Lecter's face wasn't doing any of them. Now, if they were talking about something that wasn't the woman he loved, that probably wouldn't mean anything. But Lindsey didn't think this was a lie.
"Well," he began, "I don't have the same resources I used to, so I can't put ten guys on trying to find a manipulative bitch with green skin."
And he thanked the Powers that Be for that.
"But I do think that her role in this is gonna be a big help. If you can remember the people you spoke to about her, give me some names, can try get them to at least come in here and talk to me... that's a solid start. Gettin' the science of pheromones explained to the jury's gonna do a lot, too. And you're right-- most people don't wanna call a pretty girl guilty unless there's a proverbial gun in her hand."
He paused. "Now, do you have any questions for me?"
