Hannibal thought about who might be called in to testify on River's behalf. He, himself, held a weight with his profession, but he could still be seen as biased by a jury.
"If any of her crew are around, they may be able to. Simon is not. I am unaware if Kaylee Fry is. You may look into Zoe Washburne, but she may be reluctant, don't try to force her, you will get hit. Hoban Washburne, perhaps. Shepard Book would be a very good and sturdy witness if he could be found. From what I hear of Jayne Cobb, I would not put him on the stand. He is gruff and easy to hate. If you can find the manager of the City Opera House, Erik, I would talk to him as well. Simon's girlfriend while he was here was named Jennifer Government. She is law enforcement."
He would have to ask if there were any others that might be called upon. Even if there was a small chance that there would be something helpful there, Hannibal knew that Lindsey would want to speak to every single person that he could.
"I would venture to suggest, Mr McDonald, that if somebody were to wear blue gloves into the courtroom, very few would walk away from the encounter. I could only truly assure that I would remain. It would likely be best if you can arrange some kind of check before anybody enters, or assure that it is a closed court so there cannot be outside spectators."
