Are there any side effects? (Open)
During that strange night, the crone had stretched out under the sun; her dress pulled up enough to expose a good bit of her thighs. The straps insubstantial so as not to make much of a mark. Her eyes closed, as she relished the sun. She'd laid out in it, soaking it up. While some might consider her a creature of a harsh landscape, cold and desolate, that harsh landscape could have very long days, at least in some areas. It could have what seemed like a never ending sun, and the crone had missed that.

She almost wanted to thank the City for a small piece of reminisce, when it hit her that this was not normal. Of course, the City may be experimenting with sleep patterns or light and darkness, but that didn't set well with her. There were others who had been here much longer than she, and she wondered if this sort of day/night issue had happened before. Time felt...off. The people and animals didn't seem to mind.

So, she settled in to watch once the night had came back. She doubted whatever happened had been the City giving her a little bit of her home, so very far far away. She did not believe that there was anyone powerful enough to stop the sun, well, none that would do it anyway. She did not care for havoc that she did not cause or have some finger in, save for that bit of murdering of the silly women. Oddly, that seemed to be getting solved as quickly as her own bit of fun, or perhaps not so oddly. The police were dreadfully dull.

"Mundies." She lounged on the bench, now and then seeing her home along with the cabin that had become the damn castle's friend somehow would pass by as the City shifted this way and that. She'd yet decided if the castle was indeed alive, or had simply been integrated into City's ever changing inner and outer landscape. She watched the park and those in it. One day of sun. She could think of signs found in darkness, but not so many found in the shining of the sun.

Hank had been out, fixating a few monitors around the City on random rooftops, just to record the number of hours of daylight and catch any more of the seemingly random fluctuations of light. They didn't seem to be affecting much, but he was a man of science, and intrigued by anything that was out of the ordinary.

He was on a tower near the park when he caught the faintest whiff of a familiar and powerful scent. He turned to look at the nearby grounds, and then smiled, putting his tools down and storing them before swinging over to the ground and then the trees. He landed on the ground and tucked, rolling up and sprawling next to her just in time to hear her say something he didn't quite understand.

"Out enjoying the weather, are we? Without your better half?" he teased. He hadn't seen her since the wedding, which had been uncomfortable for him and so he'd not stuck around. Still, he'd missed her, and was happy to have found her now.

The crone's brow rose slightly at the voice. She was surprised that he was speaking to her at all, seeing as he'd more or less disappeared around the time of her wedding many months ago. She looked slowly up at him.

"Oh, you do still live. How very wonderful to know." She looked him over before turning her attention to the park and those in it. "If you believe you can simply bounce into my life after disappearing so very rudely, not even a letter for such a wonderful day, you are mistaken. You did not even partake in the good fortune of a new home." There was a hint of a pout in her words and on her lips.

Whether or not the crone was truly upset with the blue boy was anyone's guess, even hers. She stretched a little on the bench before turning to look at him.

"Why would you disappear like that?"

"Jealous. Also a rather amazing discovery that set me out of time and into work, and then a crisis aversion to protect the occupants of this City from certain doom," Hank rolled over and flopped on his back, looking up at her upside down, brows pushing into the dirt. He was only half conciously trying to behave adorably, so as to earn his right to stay.

"I thought you'd have no interest in entertaining the boyish manners of an idiot, so I stayed away. I am sorry to have missed your blessing of your new home however. And for my own shortcomings in emotional maturity."

"Jealous? Of my marriage? And, what would keep you so busy that you would stay away?" The crone watched the blue boy carefully, tracking his movements as if he might pounce her at any moment, without seeming cagey or overly cautious. She shifted a little to lightly poke him with her sandaled foot, just a light poke.

"You're an interesting young man. And, I am not the only one you'll have to apologize to. You insulted Eric by your absence in our home if not at our wedding." She didn't mind that he may be getting an interesting view along her leg at that angle. Then again, he'd seen her in more compromising positions.

"Jealous of you being promised to another. Even if you've no restriction upon yourself for it. What can I say? You were in the arms of another professing love and it bothered me," he shrugged, admiring the view. The question made him smile. "I've come up with a way to bend light to my will and make it solid. It's been quite exciting to work with."

"Your moral code will get the better of you always. It's the problem with being a staunchly good guy. The so-called white hat or superhero." The crone glanced down at him before looking away. "Or perhaps it is more than moral...you don't love me, do you?"

She turned, both feet on the ground. She moved quickly and was now sitting atop the blue fur ball, her head tilting slightly as she looked down at him.

"If you do, your heart will be broken, and you will be nothing more than a shell of a beast. No, your kind does not love ones like me. The dark and sinister and totally lacking in moral high ground." She smiled down at him, only somewhat teasing.

"You can bend light to your will and make it solid?" Her brow rose. "Really?" It sounded like magic, though she knew his work was steeped in science.

He looked up at her and then smiled, not unhappy at all to have her on top of him. He put his hands on her hips, thinking over her question. "I do love you. But I don't think my heart will be broken. Beaten up a bit, but I know who you are," he said, shrugging a shoulder. He'd rationalized it out a while ago and come to the conclusion that the enjoyment and self growth he got from spending time with her overruled how much it hurt that she wasn't traditional enough to be a compatible match. But if she had been, she wouldn't be nearly as good for him as she was, so it was worth dealing with.

And he nodded. "I can animate it as well. If I can work out the power sources I should be able to create entire worlds as I please, with the proper programming," he said. It was exciting and had completely dominated his life for a time.

"I must see this moving solid light." Yes, it did sound much like magic. A bit of trickery. The crone's fingers curled in the blue fur, giving a soft tug as she did so. Her mind working on the hows and the whys of that light, more so than the confession of love. She smiled slightly.

"Do you truly love me, or perhaps your virgin mind has connected love to the way your body feels with mind?" She gave another tug on fur before leaning forward to kiss him on the tip of his nose. "Perhaps you only think you love me. Or perhaps you're head over heels, and you're more or less screwed."

She laughed softly and sat up to look at him. Her head tilted slightly as if in thought.

"You know I could have my way with you here..." She would be just that cruel.

"Well, come to my lab and I'll be happy to show it to you," he smiled, then reached up and stroked her hair. "Give me a few days and I'll make something appropriate for the demonstration."

Her teasing made him blush, but he smiled through it and pushed himself into an upright position, arms going around her slender body to catch her. He rumbled. "I have been more or less 'screwed' since I met you, be the love a product of hormones or deeper attachment. I have elected to not be concerned about the matter until later."

She could have her way with him anywhere. She knew it, and he did. After she'd convinced to let the enemy of his organization, a vampire, feed off him, he'd given up the notion of fighting her in carnal issues.

"Come to your lab, and you'll be happy to show what to me?" The crone smield down at him before leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his nose. She didn't sit atop him for long. She found her way to her feet and standing.

"Show me your magic, darling boy." She offered a hand that was much smaller than his. She could help him up, but she seemed so very small compared to him and many others. She smiled slightly.

"Show me what pretty thing you've made." She motioned for him to rise and join her.

He purred at the kiss, then shifted slightly, looking at her and beaming before jumping up to his feet, taking her hand after.

"It would be my pleasure," he said, turning and walking with her to the tower. He was happy to see her again, not realizing till they reconnected just how much he'd missed her. He resolved to not let his feelings get in the way of seeing her again. He would always fall into projects and loose touch with reality for a while, but Fred's death had jolted him out of any selfish flight from conflict.

Thoughts of his friend took the smile from his face, and he sighed, hand tightening around Baba's just a fraction.
