Simon watched her go, but he didn't watch her leave. There was a wall, and perhaps that was for the best, for now. Perhaps this was exactly what they needed...for now.
Once she had moved enough, he started gathering his work again to do what he had to. Signing off on this and double checking that, it wasn't the hardest part of the job but tedious. Very tedious. He needed to do it, and it kept his time free for thinking. Even if his thoughts could be read by a sister who wanted to pummel him for his recent apparently unbrotherly actions.
He flipped through a few pages; he wouldn't look up from those "engrossing" bits of paper until he felt she'd gone. His own Mandarin curses fell; life was just got a little more difficult.
