It was more than unease. It was guilt, it was major concern for what might happen to her, and to Hannibal if she were to be put away for a long time. River was very confused and worried. She was trying to focus her energy on her dancing, and on other things, until she knew more about the trial.
She did not smile, but nodded. "Simon met him," she said.
Of course, Simon had NOT liked River's relationship with Hannibal. He'd told her that she was accepting that Hannibal was a monster and that she should not do that. But River saw herself as a monster, too.
"They used to work together."
And then, all at once, the flood of emotions came.
She was tearing up.
"I killed someone and I didn't mean it and there's going to be a trial."
