Jesse kept his mouth shut about the whys of it. Obviously now was not the time. He did want her to know the whole of it, he did. But this had to happen at her speed, in her way.
"I took him home after. Made sure he'd be okay. Won't even be charges, I gave the bartender a big tip after I paid for what happened. He won't get in no trouble."
No legal trouble, anyway. Wash might see the business end of Zoe's anger, though, eventually. He might, then, wish that he'd gone to jail instead.
"He's a little worse fer wear, but ain't no permanent damage gonna be left on him." Jesse gave a little, sad, shrug. "Thought of goin over to fix him up, but didn't think he'd want to be seein me."
Another shrug and a swallow of the beer. Really, he wanted something harder.
