Lois hadn't invited Lindsey this time around. It wasn't that she didn't want to see the lawyer, but they had been spending an awful lot of time together and she still hadn't gotten a good read of where she stood with him. She didn't want to come on too strong by continuing to invite him to formal events like this one.
Besides, it would be easier to work without a date at her side. Lois dressed for the occasion in a deep purple floor-length gown and opera gloves. Her trusty pen and notebook were at the ready in her purse, just in case.
But for now, she made her way through the crowd, stopping to exchange pleasantries as she did.
