Jesse had never heard compliments flung like insults in his direction, and he wasn't sure what to do with it. He thought that he might try to settle Wash down again, but it was too late. The drunken man was determinedly flinging himself bodily in Jesse's direction. The only thing to be done of it now was to brace for impact and try to hold on.
He knew that there was a much simpler way to end this. But using those powers he had to solve this problem felt more like cheating than anything else he'd ever done.
"Wash." Jesse said, keeping his hands on Wash's arms, trying to hold him back and up at the same time. "Ya really don't. I know yer fuckin pissed as hell, and ya got every right to be. I'm all for a good fight, but this isn't gonna be fair. It's also not gonna be fun for neither of us. We can just sit back down and chat. You can yell at me and whatever else. It ain't too late, man."
