Jesse took the beer gladly. He had been drinking more of the hard stuff recently, and it was nice to have something light like a beer for a change. It'd been a while since he'd had one, actually.
"Ain't no way to get it apart? The bars?"
He'd seen worse things happen to people here, but Jo didn't need to hear that. Jesse figured that the City gave her the house to make up for the bar. Thinking that it would be some kind of easy exchange for the woman.
"Hey, playin God ain't the same as bein, sweetheart." Jesse winked. "You remember that. City is just some being with power. Technically what I got outstrips what it has, but I come to like certain things 'bout bein here, and I ain't lookin to get anyone hurt or lost or nothin. I don't gotta like a lot of what happens, though."
