She laughed. She laughed hard and loud, all because of the face that Dinah made. It was fantastic.
When she finally calmed herself back down, Jennifer wiped at her eyes carefully and then set herself to the task of answering the question that Dinah had asked. It was a really reasonable question.
"Yeah, it was a wish. There was a ball and then we all went home with wishes. I didn't think anything about it, and I was headed to bed. So my dumb ass says 'I wish I could understand Charlie better', and what happens? I get his fucking brain. I was all zen and shit for a whole day. He was almost as disturbed by what I was doing with what he was doing. I'm still not quite sure what his wish was, but I think it had something to do with being honest about his feelings, because he was all kinds of forthright and linear with his thoughts."
She shook her head a bit. "I can now follow his logic easily and jump to the conclusions that he was headed to without having to really try. It did wonders for our working relationship, actually. I stopped giving him weird looks when we were talking to suspects or victims."
