She was certainly back to her usual performance standard now that she felt his eyes on her. No longer worrying made things easier on her voice and although she constantly looked his way when she could she tried to not make it look like she was paying her director more attention than the other audience members. But that wouldn't stop her. The third Act went spectacularly well even though it was so tragic. Then again most Opera's ended tragically so that did not change things at all. Her death was always an emotional scene to perform as she tried to be as involved as possible and as the finale drew out and the lights dimmed, the crowd began to clap.
The bows were incredibly welcome as it meant she could see him as soon as she changed. She took her bow and could not help it, took a second one in direction of her angel. A look of love, adoration and happiness lighting her face. He was back. She would question where he had been and why but first she had to see him. As the curtain was preparing to fall her eyes were firmly on Erik and the moment she could leave the stage she did.
She had never moved so quickly to her dressing room and as she closed the door behind her, she sighed happily and leaned against the wood. Her heart felt full once more and she quickly moved to sit, removing the stage make up to leave her bare faced. She did not need the make up. Next, would come the fumbling with her dress and given how eager she was to see him her fingers were only shaking more. But she had to change into the modern dress she had worn on her way to performance tonight as soon as possible.
"These laces," she muttered to herself as she pulled more at them, glancing at the door. Perhaps she should request help. Erik was waiting and although she could go out in costume she knew he would not like that. It was not professional.
