"Not at all," he said, then gave Fred an apologetic glance as he dropped his arm that he'd been offering to her. Swapping the flowers from his free hand to the other, he found in his pocket the pen he'd kept, just in case this exact situation came up. With a few quick strokes, their two names were added, and it was done.
