"I know how badly you're hoping that I'm a retard and have said something to somebody about what you really are." Jack shook his head, almost sadly. "Unfortunately for the both of us, in this world, everybody can know. It makes for a lot of fun in some ways, but when you're trying to hide, it fucking ruins everything."
He studied Crane a moment and really did feel bad briefly. Finding out that you're technically fictional was a hell of a thing to endure.
"If you go to the library and look up Batman, you're going to see a lot of familiar faces."
He smiled. "And that brings me to what I will be doing. I'm gonna find that fucking Bat, that Bat that isn't our Bat, the one that isn't Bruce Wayne, and I'm going to find out who they are. Then, I'm gonna make em smile. REAL big. Maybe from ear to ear. After the other fun, of course. Maybe I'll join you for a bit of mayhem out in the wilds, too. But the Bat is my first focus."
Jack thought a moment. "I've seen horses. There's a whole stable in the park. You can rent them. But of course, you'll just take it. It'll be good to see you on a steed again, Spooks. Just where you should be."
