Jack sipped at his tea and gave Beauty a grateful smile.
"I didn't have much time to rule before I ended up here, but I hope..." he sighed and shrugged. "We overthrew my mother and I was to lead the people but then I went through the looking glass and ended up here. It was only supposed to be a short trip. I've been told that while we're here, somehow the timeline still goes on as if we've never left there. I do hope that's true."
He shook his head slightly and took another sip of tea.
"And I suppose I've just given you an earful. I do enjoy being mayor, though I can't say I have much time for parties. Every so often, there are some smashing soirees though," he agreed. "I certainly couldn't argue with receiving an invitation to enjoy opening night at the opera house recently."
There was a pang that might have etched itself onto his face as he thought of Zee and how much she'd enjoyed that night. It was going to be painful to separate the memories and enjoy them for what they were without simply missing her terribly. He wasn't entirely sure it would be possible to do that at all, but since the alternative was to simply not think about her or remember his time with her, he would certainly try to find a way to make the memories easier to deal with.
