"Of course," she said warmly in response to his thanks. "And please, come in and make yourself at home. I'll just be a minute..." Honey in tea was one of Beauty's favorite choices, as well. Her sisters preferred thick, creamy milk instead, but tea never quite tasted right to her once milk was added.
"Actually, my home in France was much different than this cottage. The City continually adds to this place for me. It used to be a single room. Recently, it expanded to include two guest rooms, another modern bath, and a huge tower library. I'm ashamed to say, Mr. Mayor, than the City may be spoiling me."
Beauty didn't sound ashamed in the slightest; rather, she sounded delighted. In a few more seconds, she'd situated everything they needed on a small tray, along with a selection of tea cookies. Her favorite were lemon shortbread. Along with her favorite black tea flavored with bergamot and sweetened with honey, it was perfect. And she was very pleased to share this with the mayor himself.
When she set the tray on the nearest table close to where Jack had sat himself, she found herself a place close at hand and began serving. "Do you like where you live in the City?" she asked, pouring the tea.
