The detective watched her, finished chewing the cone before sitting forward. His elbows rested on his knees as he glanced away. He watched a few children playing. Finally he looked back at her.
"Every living thing has to die, but how and when sometimes can be controlled by something other than nature. Unless a person is considered part of nature. Does a person, as part of nature, plucking a flower, which ends it life, count as being a natural end to that flower's life?" Charlie would have to think about this; he knew he would. He probably had before. He slowly leaned back on the bench.
"Or do you mean you've never considered plucking a flower as illegal? It isn't as far as I know, but I know of places picking flowers is and possibly should be so." He gave her a slight smile.
"Do you pick flowers often? I've only picked fruit lately." He nodded, knowing he might not like a fruit picker/harvester in his suit.
