Once again, Christine simply waited for him to respond. He seemed to be focused on his treat and she could not exactly hurry him up or just walk away. She refused to be that rude. But soon he was talking and Christine listened once more. She didn't know the rules and laws of this time, this place, so she needed the knowledge.
There were laws against picking a flower? That was still surprising to her. In Paris she had taken flowers when they were not on private land with the other girls and never considered it being illegal. And she certainly hoped she would not be given a death sentence for such a small thing. But she was still confused as to why it could be so bad.
She didn't say anything as he bit into what he was eating, sensing he was not quite finished talking just yet. Christine was used to keeping quiet as she waited for someone to finish addressing her and her years as a ballet girl had taught her to be incredibly obedient.
