When he had been asked to do this, Jesse had wondered for a moment if she'd been kidding. He wasn't foolish enough to think it was a joke, it wasn't the sort of thing this particular woman would joke about. But he just had never imagined that he might be officiating a wedding between anybody in this place, let alone for someone as powerful as he was.
But he had agreed. In the end, he did feel honored to do this for her. That she would trust him enough to do it. Most people didn't give much thought right away to who they would have seeing over their wedding, and a lot of people didn't really care who it was. But in Jesse's world, being picked to be the person who created the marriage covenant was a special thing.
He had been told to dress nice, but that was the end of it. He didn't think that she or her groom to be would much care about him wearing priestly clothing, so he didn't. Just a nice black button up shirt and a pair of black slacks. Little touches of himself in things like the fact he was still wearing cowboy boots even though they were new and shiny, and there was a ornate silver belt buckle.
The only truly strange thing was the request that had been made of him. He was to use no names at any point in the ceremony. He could say what words he wished, as long as neither the bride's nor the groom's names were mentioned. They didn't have to be, for it to be binding, but he'd never encountered such a thing before.
The other wedding attendants were a motley mix. He knew two of them were like the man who stood beside him, and one of them was the boy he'd helped after a vampire encounter that had freaked him out - which made Jesse really curious as to what had happened. But there was also Hannibal, who he knew of.
Jesse watched the bride walk up to where he and the groom were standing, finding this particular ceremony already beautiful and amazing. He'd seen nothing like it before, and didn't think that he ever would again.
