Fred looked at the chair, then at the door. She hadn't meant to drop all this on him. It really wasn't his problem to worry about, certainly not after the way the two men had interacted. Nor the way she had "ended" things with him. But...
She set the taco box on the table and settled down in the seat. He was her friend, wasn't he?
"I won't stay long. You have things to do. I'm...pretty certain it was a choice. I sort of saw him go. Kind of - I have the goodbye message anyway. He thought he opened a wormhole, and he took it. I don't know how it all worked; the math is gone. But, it was a choice all the same. He said he'd come back for me, but people come and go because the City wants them to. I guess it sometimes wants to give the illusion of choice now?" She wasn't going to cry. It wasn't that she lacked the emotion, but she just didn't want to do that to Jack or herself for that matter. She didn't add that Jensen had said he loved her - she wasn't sure that was right.
"He has people to help there. He missed his family and his team. He'll be where he belongs, and that is a good thing." Her smile wasn't the usually bright strong one, but there was a smile just the same. "Who knows, maybe he'll find away back." She just doubted that possibility, no matter how much anyone might desire it.
