"You're from the future yourself?" John's eyebrows lifted. He knew it was perfectly possible, other Chosen had been from different points in time. But it was still unexpected to meet somebody to confirm things like living on Mars.
"Please, John's fine. There wasn't even any of the Faith back on the other world, let alone a church or congregation," the younger man said, returning the smile with a hapless shrug.
"Sounds reasonable enough." He walked alongside Jack, looking around and absently wondering if the man didn't just want to start drinking again. He was never one to judge, but a man uncomfortable with a man of God and who seemed to drink an awful lot wasn't always the kind you wanted to depend on in a tight situation. John did, however, want to make sure he'd be alright, and it was probably better for them to stick together since they'd been brought here at the same time. So he'd follow the other and keep his eyes and ears open.
In the meantime, a lighter mood couldn't hurt anybody. He rubbed his stomach. "Hopefully the food is better here. I'm thankful they had enough back on the other world, but growing up in Texas left me rather dependent on a tasty meal to really feel settled down at the end of the day."
