John was partially relieved, partially more concerned that Jack was here. He wasn't exactly one of the relevant "Chosen", there had already been talks of more powerful or more useful beings around, and he'd gone around largely ignored until he enlisted as a guard. He wasn't from a special world as far as anybody could tell, and except for his seemingly generic combat experience still wasn't used to monsters, magic, mutants, or anything supernatural.
But if he wasn't the only one taken, if this man was here too, then there was no telling how many of the Chosen had been brought here. Which meant the cities could be undefended. That didn't sit well with John at all.
He glanced at the gun and nodded. "That's what I was thinking too, but I can't just leave it around for a kid or somebody to find."
He was aware that it was getting him noticed, however, and set his jaw, taking the gun off his shoulders carefully, trying to not cause any panic as he took off his coat and carefully wrapped the weapon. It wasn't ideal; not too great of a disguise and left him needing to carry it in his arms, but it was something, at the least. Luckily it didn't seem to be too chilly here, as all John was used to wearing under his coat was an undershirt. It did leave his collar, which had been under the coat, sitting somewhat awkwardly around his neck apart from all other clothing. John's ears might have reddened ever so slightly as he imagined what Pastor Steve would have to say about him at this moment.
"I was volunteering with the guards patrolling the city walls when I appeared here," he smiled in exasperation, glancing down at himself and then pulling the shirt out of his pants and down to cover a utility blade and pistol. It was a breach of uniform that made his teeth grind slightly, just thinking about what his commanding officers and drill sergeants would say, but he was far too well armed to be out in public like this.
He paused, remembering his manners, and offered his hand to the other man. "John Tudor. Pastor and, I suppose, reserve militia when needed."
