"Well, he would have to come get Lucy-Belle." Charlie smiled. "Either way, everyone's welcome. The horse would probably like having company, or someone to feed him carrots. He liked apples too." That was only one reason Charlie let the horse stay inside. He couldn't tell Ted to put the big animal outside.
"Then we'll do some detecting. Doing what we get paid to do, they might keep us on after all." He reached over and claimed a piece of melon from the fruit he'd brought her. "I'll fix dinner, and you can have the room next door. Ted usually sleeps down the hall. Lucy-Belle has her own room." It seemed to be a good idea.
