"You are what you make of it." Zoe knew it wouldn't help, but she knew she spoke the truth. They were stuck there for the time being, perhaps for always, but not doing something with it was certainly allowing the place to become a prison. She had had to move on, more than once now.
"The pain won't ever go away. Neither will the loss, but it will become less." She gave him a soft understanding smile. "If you let yourself, you will grow and become something more." Her lips pursed, wishing the Shepherd was here, dealing with this man. He needed guidance, not guarding.
"The City provides to a point. Though, some I hear get everything done for them. Others work hard for what little they have. Most cases you'll have a place to sleep and money. Perhaps a job. You may take advantage of what is given, or ignore it. The choice is always up to you." She knew it was a good bit of information, and the last time she was going to give it had been to the husband she lost for a third time recently. She really didn't like the City for that.
