"Mutant," she said. "My father was a mutant." It still felt weird to say, after growing up thinking that her da was a run-of-the-mill normal human, but... well. She just wished he could have been a different mutant, instead of the murderous evil variety.
"Which is still pretty much human, like," she hurried to say. "I like normal humans, as long as they don't do anything to hurt me or my friends, you know, just like a normal person. And I don't do any weird fairie things. I think. I don't know all that much about fairies, honestly." She shrugged, a what-can-you-do gesture. "Fairies, right? Mysterious to absolutely everyone, including me."
