Beauty had been on the cusp of both shushing Eric and also trying to explain herself -- she really was wretchedly, horribly embarrassed about her intoxication last night, but she'd enjoyed talking with him -- then several things happened all at once. The color drained as quickly as it'd come, and although she wasn't looking directly at Errol and Fred, she hadn't missed how his friend tipped herself against him. A very unpleasant, very unfamiliar feeling clogged in her throat, and she swallowed.
And it was just then that Dinah simply turned around and left, taking her stricken face and strange expression with her. Beauty remembered that Dinah'd mentioned she'd had some trouble with a vampire named Eric, and Beauty expected that it'd been the same Eric that she herself had struggled with....but Eric wasn't terrible. Surely whatever differences they had, they could settle them with a few quick words... That's what Beauty had hoped for, but... no. No, it seemed she didn't understand the situation at all.
And then Fred was there again, veiling her words in such a way that Beauty wasn't quite sure what she was trying to really say or who she was trying to tell her to avoid. But based on how... "Thank you," she murmured to Fred's back as she headed out. And then, turning to look up at Eric, she asked, "What exactly happened between you two?"
But there wasn't enough time for Eric to answer before Beauty remembered she'd written a very important note for Dinah. It was still tucked behind the register. She left Eric's side, then, and all but ran to the stand. Errol was there, and she couldn't quite meet his eyes. She seized the letter, then dashed for the door, calling over her shoulder, "I'll be back!"
