He hadn't thought about it being inappropriate for him to show her his guest book. She was looking for her friend, after all, wasn't she? She wasn't some sort of investigative reporter or private detective, was she? That reminded Norman of something in his past. Of the last time he'd had one of those detective types snooping around. He really didn't want to have to go through that again. Too much stress for Mother. Too much stress.
But Norman had always ran his business like it was the "olden days." He never suspected anyone of wrongdoing. (That was Mother's job!)
"Oh. Well. I d-don't think I'll g-g-get in trouble. This is my place. I can show the book if I w-want. I think. Yes. I can do that."
He ate another piece of candy and leaned over the counter a little to watch her peruse the pages.
