"Of course, protect and serve, ma'am." He looked serious for a moment before smiling again. "He doesn't know what he passed on, Jennifer."
He stepped in once more, and as he put the boxes back in her hands, he leaned in and paused. It was as if he were thinking again; this time, he didn't kiss her. He just stepped back, looked confused for a very brief moment, then smiled.
"Get some sleep. They say things look better in the morning, and even though I still don't know who they are, in this case, they're usually right." He took another step back.
