"Because they're fun?" Jennifer shrugged. "You haven't ever gotten a surprise party for your birthday?"
She hadn't thought much about birthdays since she'd gotten here, honestly. She'd been here a long time and hadn't thought of how that time worked at all. There hadn't been any counting of the days or really keeping track of anything beyond when she needed to be at work. Time in the City didn't seem to matter the way it did in her world. Or any other world, for that matter.
"You seem the type of guy that people would want to throw surprise parties for. Maybe just to see if they could pull it off."
Jen thought that maybe, maybe she could pull off getting something under Charlie's nose. But she wasn't sure about anybody else. Ted didn't seem the type to be able to keep secrets, at least not from Charlie. There was a trust bond there that she hadn't seen anywhere else. She didn't really know who else he knew in this place, certainly not well enough to know if they could keep a very large secret from him.
"It's just weird." She said as an afterthought about the elevator.
