"The other cupcake is in here with the torte." Charlie didn't read minds, but he had seen how she devoured the first cupcake. He smiled slightly, nodding for her to take the box he offered.
"If we weren't partners, I'd be interested in your indulgences." Charlie was being forward, sort of. As far as he was concerned, telling the truth in this case wouldn't hurt. Not much.
"Yes, did you know that ghosts are real? Or so Ted says. He was saved from one." It wasn't the best subject change, but Charlie didn't have to rely on good subject changes. He didn't mind that he was thought of as an odd ball; it let him get away with more than most could.
