"It does. So does the pager. I feel bad. I've had the pager for a while, no phone, and I don't want it to think that I'm abandoning it." Now that Fred knew there was someone who could talk to machines, she did her best to remember they have feelings. She shrugged slightly. "But, I can't carry it everywhere. It could get awkward. I'll have to think about it."
She listened and thought about what he said as far as rulers go. She could see it as far as that bit of logic went, only...
"We also have a mayor. It seems a little redundant to have a ruler and a mayor, though I guess you could have both, sort of if you see the President of the United States as a ruler type and you still have mayors or governors." She nodded, but the idea that the City was the ruler was a little bothersome.
"I'm glad you're doing okay. I said it already, but I am glad. Oh!" She giggled. "You'll have to meet my boyfriend. That's new too since I last saw you. He likes all the gadgets, and being grid adjacent - I don't think he'd like being totally without the grid. He does like being connected."
