"It's a tablet?" Fred looked at him then down at the tablet, then laughed softly. "It's a handheld computer. It's not yet up to speed to some desktops or laptops, but it's pretty good. It does what it can, and so far the City hasn't taken it or my phone away from me. Do you have a phone?"
The brainy female smiled at her friend; she liked to think of him as a friend, and to be nice, she finally pulled her hand away and held her tablet to her. It wasn't that she was afraid of him, but it was nice to have it close.
"Oh, that's wonderful, that you've got a job and a place to stay. The City must have missed you." The smile just wasn't going anywhere.
