Lois had a rare Saturday off. There was no news happening today as yet, which meant that she'd slept in and hadn't changed out of her PJs until noon. Now she was enjoying her belated breakfast-a few doughnuts and coffee-as she walked through the City streets. She didn't spend much time simply enjoying her surroundings, but today seemed like a good day to do a little bit of shopping.
There was a little twinge as she thought of how nice it would be to have Chloe here to share in the shopping, but she pushed the thought of her cousin aside as soon as it entered her mind.
Longing for something didn't bring it to you. It simply made it harder to be happy with what you did have. No, it was easier to just keep moving and not think about all of the things that she might wish for if she were the wishing type.
She was juggling the coffee, the bag of doughnuts and the half-eaten doughnut in her hand when she spotted the book shop. In her downtime, Lois did love to read. What writer didn't, after all? The shop looked interesting as well. So she used her elbow to jiggle the door open and let herself into the shop.
She didn't bother to think about the fact that she might just be a book shop keeper's nightmare what with the food and drink all precariously balanced in her hands.
