At her pushing, he sat obediently, feeling too stunned to do anything else. Wash wasn’t prone to fainting after hearing shocking news, but his head was feeling pretty damn dizzy. No wonder Annie didn’t know what the Rim was, or had never heard of a Companion. It all made sense now, except for the part where nothing made sense at all.
His hand was quite likely broken, he had know idea where his wife was, and he was over five-hundred years in the past. “At least Zoe’s here somewhere,” he said weakly. “I wonder if this is Earth. Or if it’s somehow outside Earth in some other dimension type thing. Did you know Earth?” Asking questions about that old origin planet-that-was had to be better than thinking about how terrifying this all was.
