Annie had wanted to come very badly, but didn't want to do it alone. So she sought out the first person that she thought of that she could get to take her. Dean. He would want to protect her from whatever might happen at the conference. From what she had heard on the streets, there were a lot of angry people. She made sure to mention this to Dean when she asked him to join her.
All of the questions were really good. Some of them were really weird. She saw the girl who looked like a fairy and made up her mind that she was going to have to go looking for that one.
There was no sign of Rufio, but Annie spotted both Charlie and Fred. And she winced when the guy named Jesse Custer seemed to get into a fight with the City and then storm out. She noticed the woman with him, too. She was really really tall.
So many people in such a small room. Or maybe the room felt small because of all the people.
Annie cleared her throat as she stood. She had a question, after all. "Why do you provide things for us? Money and jobs, places to live? Why not make us go out and do that for ourselves? Most of us are used to doing things that way. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed opening my cupboards to see my favorite snack there even though I was sure I'd run out the day before. I'm just curious."
