Eric felt the bed move, but kept his eyes shut. He felt like complete shit. He didn't want to face the world outside, and had no idea what could have happened to cause this near agony.
Finally, realizing that the movement of the bed was caused by a person, Baba, and that she was just sitting there and waiting for him to wake up, he cracked an eye. There were a lot of smells right next to him, and he couldn't quite sort out what was going on.
"My head." He groaned and turned over, pressing the heel of his hand to his temple. It was an incredibly human moment, something that was far outside what his normal actions were.
His body felt absolutely drained, and he was sore to the muscle. He couldn't quite open his eyes all the way, either. It was far too bright. But not sunshine bright. No, this was just the overhead lamp, and apparently every other light he'd turned on and left that way before falling into bed. Why had he done that?
