Thomas thought about this. Really thought about it. It was a good question. One that he'd never asked himself, or thought that would needed to be asked. Or could be.
"Before? Before, no. No. I didn't need a friend. I didn't think about friends." He ate a bit of bread, thinking more. "But. I have learned that even if you don't need somebody, it's nice to be around certain people."
He emphasized 'certain', because it had not been a pleasure to meet some of the people he had. The ones he liked, really liked, were few. Less than a handful.
"Now, I think I would want a friend. Even if I weren't stuck."
