"What?" Jo was somewhat distracted as she glanced around the room.
"Stay right here," she told him. "She'll be back soon."
She reached into her bag and took out the canister of salt. She proceeded to walk in a circle around the man, pouring it as she went.
"She won't be able to cross this line," she explained.
Explaining the reasoning sometimes kept people calm enough to do as they were told. Sometimes. She didn't know if he was one of those sorts or if he was the type to simply lose his head in a crisis, but she hoped he was the first type. That would make this easier.
