Lois was dressed in her usual professional clothes. Nice skirt, blouse, suit jacket. She had sandwiched the appointment with the lawyer in between scheduled interviews. She couldn't afford to take too much time away from chasing down stories to do this. Not if she wanted to keep her name from being forgotten like last week's recyclables.
She took the offered hand and shook it. Mr. McDonald was cute, if not what she would immediately picture as a lawyer. That was probably for the best. Lois had known enough corrupt lawyers that she felt a little more at ease with someone whose look didn't exactly scream 'lawyer.'
"Nice to meet you too, Mr. McDonald. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me about my case. Have you had the chance to look over the file?"
For now, she was professional. She was going to have to curb the urge to point out just how ridiculous the claim was. That would have been saved for Chloe or even Clark, but neither of them was here. Which caused yet another pang at the reminder of how alone she was in the City.
