Jeannie stared at her hero in confusion. Was this not what he had wished for? It had happened a few times since coming to this place, the wishes she granted were not exactly what had been asked for. Or what she had intended.
Apparently she had missed the mark again, because the handsome man shook her slightly. He had been so very brave and gallant earlier, so he must be quite upset to grab her that way. Then he began dragging her through the strange metal house they were now in. What an odd place!
It occurred to Jeannie, after passing through a room that had many dials and buttons, that it looked much like Major Nelson’s rocket ship in that space. A rocket with other rooms attached. A large rocket then? Was her hero an astronaut? Oh would that not be simply perfect? Dark hair, blue eyes, and an astronaut!
But he was upset and she did not know what to do to reassure him. Honestly, she did not understand the problem. He seemed to know where they were, so why was he upset? And who was it that he thought was missing? Jeannie was very confused.
Then he stopped and asked questions that she did not know how to answer and did not have the answer for. “I do not understand. Is this not what you wished for? I usually do not make such mistakes, but things have not worked right since I came to this city. I could not even make the washing machine disappear, only turn it into a toaster. I have not done so poorly since I contracted the Marhaba Flu. I will try again if you like, and we will find your serenity. I am sorry.”
Pressing her hands together, Jeannie first bowed low, then crossed her arms in front of her. She looked at him expectantly. “What is your wish?”
