The boy, or not so boy, was smart in not popping up at her. She was tired enough to hit first then see who she'd hit. The Amazon had worked on being more attuned to her surroundings; she'd never been completely oblivious, but now she could "sense" more. She knew what was going on, who was around her, and how to handle the situation should there be one. She knew these things, but at the moment she was almost too tired and frustrated to care beyond survival.
"Nothing." She glanced at him, ignoring the 'old lady' bit. She continued walking, and something perverse hit her. "You're looking taller. Have you grown since last I saw you?" It wasn't that she knew better; it just seemed the thing to point out. Was he really concerned about growing up?
