"Taking him on by myself was never the plan," Dinah said wearily. "If anything, it was luring him somewhere where you all could take him on. But I agree with Hank-we need to find out more. I can at least go to the library while you're helping Jensen set up the cameras."
She hoped that she would at least be trusted with that job. Ollie wanted her benched and this mission was too important for the team to be divided.
She stepped a little closer to Dean, who had every reason to be upset. She threw him an apologetic look. If she had known that tensions were going to be running this high, she wouldn't have brought him here and forced him into the middle of this. Her voice was low enough that it was meant only for him.
"Dean, I threw everything in my arsenal at him and he wiped the floor with me. I'm not one of the big guns in this. And if the team has concerns about my participation in this, it's my responsibility to respect those."
She'd emphasized the 'I.' She didn't expect Dean to consider himself benched. The team had no jurisdiction over him, and she was a little pissed off that Ollie was trying to act like they did.
Dean had been brought in to help. If the team didn't trust that help, she would respect that as well. But that didn't mean she expected him to stay out of it. Even if she didn't want to see him hurt.
Hank got a small appreciative, if a little thin, smile.
"I'm just going to walk Dean out and then I'll meet you downstairs."
She was upset, and those who knew her best could probably tell. But she was still maintaining her professionalism. It hurt to be distrusted and it really hurt that there wasn't anything she could contribute to taking Eric down.
