"I don't think a thing has to be unique to be special," he told her, smiling. He watched her method, and considered trying it the other way, then decided she had the right idea. For one, the other way sounded messy and as it was his first time and he was out in the open, that didn't seem like such a good idea.
She was right, though. Even they had something like that, breading wrapped around vegetables and meats. Pasties were popular, but he understood some cultures here had those, too. At least it would be something familiar.
The City seemed to be helping all of them along, to feel more comfortable, but not the way it supposedly used to. Hatter really wouldn't know. When he'd first shown up, it had taken too long to get his feet under him and by the time he did, everything had come to a stand still. And, as odd as his life back home might be to some of these people, he still felt more comfortable with things the way they were. He'd have to have a job, soon, he supposed. But that still wasn't as weird as a city that provided for him. All things considered, he could live with foods that were different from home, even if he found ones that they had, too.
Following Fred's lead, he peeled the foil back a bit, revealing the soft, warm wrapping that held the contents of the taco. "Here goes nothing," he said teasingly, then took a small but confident bite. "That's...really good!" he admitted, swallowing and then smiling brightly. It wasn't pizza, but it was definitely brilliant in its own right.
