Hatter could barely suppress his groan. He was really starting to hate that guy. And that was assuming he didn't already hate him to begin with, which he'd been pretty close to doing. Pain in his side is what Jack Heart was. "The mayor, I assume?" he asked, non-concealed annoyance in his voice. And who could blame him, really? He was an observant kind of guy, and noticed she didn't look exactly happy about it, but oyster emotions were difficult for him to grasp at times. He was getting there. Slowly.
"Hi, Fred. I'm..." He'd been planning on telling everyone it was David, but that was when he thought he'd have to blend in. Alice and Jack both knew him by his name. What to do? "David. But you can just call me Hatter. Everyone does." There, that was easier. She'd know both if it came up. "Who knows, they could even be my favorite. Though I doubt it. Fish isn't really a favorite of mine anyway." Mushroom appealed to him, though. Mushrooms were a big deal in Wonderland.
His eyebrows lifted as she used a phrase he wasn't familiar with, but he found himself grinning anyway. She was cute. Not hot or whatever the terminology was supposed to be. And she was no Alice. But she was definitely cute. "Is alligator actually something you can grind up? I'd heard of them, but not as a meat. Or a taco filler."
If nothing else, she'd made him smile. And he felt that was kind of needed in a place like this.
