"Uh, I am really not sure I want to touch the fixing-Jake's-girlfriend subject with a ten foot pole." Her hands had gone up in a stop motion as she said this. "I don't even know if he should have a say in that. She's not the same as him, but does that mean you can do it without permission?"
That really got into a touchy area.
"I don't know if you guys are cat people enough to say that you're grandparents. God parents sounds better. But it also sounds like you don't want that to happen at all, so it's not really an issue. I think that this is a conversation you need to have with Ted and Jake." That sounded so very strange.
"I don't think I'm together enough to be the woman of a house that big at the moment. My apartment is pretty good sized, and besides, what about Jake?" And would it be weird if she brought home a guy? Or Charlie brought home a girl? Or the horse found a mate?
The house was really full of characters, she realized.
"Not that I wouldn't want to be. But you're probably better off with someone else at the moment. I have to deal with issues I've been hiding from for months and months."
