Charlie leaned back in his chair, his hands lifting to clasp behind his head. His eyes dropped to the files before looking up at her, brow raised.
"We don't know if they happened before or after the City decided to stay still. So, they probably don't have much to do with each other. Then again, everything is connected. Butterflies creating hurricanes, it's all connected. Just how connected isn't always obvious. They couldn't take the current state of things, so they did that." He had seen some crazy things, but even that had made him consider giving up eating for a bit.
"Or the City decided it wasn't worth moving anymore. If the City is a living thing, which in a way all cities are living, just this one might be more than most." He gave her a weak smile. "Though, why anyone would think that all this is to ruin our days, I don't know. We're not exactly that important. We're just cops, detectives, flatfeet, gumshoes, dicks, p.i - actually we're not p.i.s. We're i's but not p's."
